samsara begins

in the hospital
amid flowers and visitors,
baby yawns and
samsara begins

here begin joy and hope,
fear and adversity,
desire and discipline

a beautiful son
formed in wondrous detail
with vibrant health in his eyes,
and a strong mother
ready for her long devotion

a new tree
planted in the old earth,
a clean slate
to be written on in
the same old language...
hopefully better stories
to be told
this time around

outside the hospital,
Rahu eats the moon
and this flashing world is restored
to sweet primal night
for some years yet
(until chalk boards and teachers)

amid the flowers
and the cards,
(it's hard to say it)
samsara begins

I don't know if it is related to being a father again, Sean...
but your poetry just gets better and better!

Thank you Jose and Pia. His name is Elijah, a name I didn't pick but am quite okay with. Thank you also, Mangone. On that note, I'll say that I've been working hard at my writing for so long... that there have been a lot of peaks and lows as far as quality. I've lived a little wildly so my creativity has sometimes been disturbed by upheaval or depression, etc., and then I have to re-build. So I'm trying to be more of a stable person. Being a father for the 2nd time, and the first time I get to be involved... is really inspiring for me. So thanks for your kind words all of you.

I’ve always been an extremist and suffered for it… until I learned to be extremely moderate ;O)

thanks Mangone. you know, I appreciate your comment that you see progress recently. it's nice to hear: we can't always see our own direction as clearly as a discerning outsider(especially since I'm an inspiration based writer and don't reflect a lot on my own work.) I get very depressive moods, so I appreciate being validated as a writer.
and I ought to clarify about my 1st son, I've been involved, just not directly involved because I couldn't be; I actually just helped a lesbian friend conceive and stayed in touch.
