"violence and the allegedly mentally ill," letter to editor, Herald and News, February 2013

I'm contorted as to how to address today's issue because of its great actual complexity juxtaposed with the zombie-simplistic public thinking on the issue, if indeed "thinking" is the proper term as indeed many of the concepts here came from listening to august shrinks like Freud, who spear-headed an early medical movement to get all ailing westerners straightened out with daily doses of cocaine. I'm talking about the so called "mentally-ill" and violence, and guns, and the "bill of rights" our wealthy forefathers drew up by dipping their quills in lakes of common blood to in sacred language guarantee us our liberties and our right to defend them: were our ancestors "mad" to believe them?
Today's U.S.A. spends more than all other nations combined on "defense" forces preparing to fight wars against the other world powers knowing that most such war scenarios would leave most of the territory of all contenders a perpetually toxic wasteland... but we've fatally red-inked the budget of the scientists who were supposed to prepare a defense against meteors which have a very reasonable probability of striking the earth, and an undeniable possibility of making us the next dinosaurs. Our senate is trying to McCarthy black-ball a highly decorated grunt veteran veteran senator for suggesting our political landscape includes a powerful "Jewish lobby" when everyone in the know about anything knows this powerful unofficial lobby not only exists but has long been a major player in our politics, in our history, and might I even argue in our film industry? Just ask Russell Crowe: he'll deny it competely.
So, obviously, many of the intelligentsia, the super-rich, the talking-heads, the many-termed ballot Caesars: They think very few of us, the American people, have any genuine even semi-intelligent sanity or know "a hawk from a handsaw." And while distracting people with all this new n-word talk about mentall illness and murderous madmen(the officially "diagnosed" mentally ill are, scientifically speaking, 25 times more likely to be the victims than the perpetrators of violent crime: http://www.treatmentadvocacycenter.org/about-us/our-blog/69-no-state/203...,) all they're really looking for is some way to deny the right to bear arms to anyone they choose, even if that person has no history whatsoever of violence. Agent Smith doesn't want shots fired at his drones.
