Love actions

from the ABC set You're O.K, I'm not O.K

In the dark,
you reach for me
and it's easy to surrender,
for the body knows nothing
of secrets, of guilt, of blame,
It loves in the moment
with no history to hark back to,
no future to fathom.
Just giving and taking,
here and now.

For a short while
I slip free,
give in to the learned responses,
the reflex actions, this faux loving.

The air cools between us
and the grey light defines
your eyes, questioning?,
I turn toward the window
in mock bravery,
as if I welcome the day.

Really enjoyed this, shoe. Perfect final lines to each stanza, and so atmospheric I could almost taste the tension. Simply brilliant :)

I missed this earlier Shoe and am glad I found it now - what a clearly defined and tender poem. Agree with all the above. :-)

Dodgystrawberry and fatboy74, thanks for reading and pleased you like it. Kahdai, I'm glad you felt the sadness.

Oh, thanks Magic, in truth it was going to be lives in the moment, but I mis-typed it, so pleased you liked it, it means a lot,:}

Whilst conceding that sex is a natural, animalistic act you nonetheless make it a beautiful thing.

The way you couch the feeling of not wanting the moment to end is bith raw and moving.

I guess I was trying to blur the lines between love and sex and all the stuff in between, I'm glad you liked the ending, it's my favourite part.
