No surrender

from the ABC set You're O.K, I'm not O.K

Crack the fragile skull
Spoon out the scrambled brain,
Wholesome soldiers are lacerated,
Masticated, bones left on the plate,
Weetabix drown like kittens
In your o% fat leukocytes,
Weakly, I wave a white flag
Placing myself in your sights,
But you are planning your next strategy,
On your blackberry,
“I’ve got SO much to do”
As you pencil me in
For a phone call, or maybe a tweet
The claxon calls, to arms, you go
Mortally wounded
I clear the carnage
Of what used to be us, my love.

really enjoyed this shoe. I love the breakfast description, and if it's autobiographical in any way, can I suggest you put the blackberry in the bowl with the weetabix tomorrow morning?

I'm please I found a window in my diary for this one shoe - for four lines there I thought you'd morphed into some 'guts & glory' war correspondent xx :--)

Totally agree with everyone; that breakfast imagery is brilliant ;) Brutal but with a great comic edge, Shirley. Well done!

I agree with all of the above. I love the last lines and these lines especially;

'Masticated, bones left on the plate,'
'Weetabix drown like kittens'

I really enjoyed :-)

What more is there to say, Shirley, except you have always such a fresh way of looking at things. I like Cheerios, as well as my portion of 5 and I also liked this;-)
