Raindrops on the skylight,
pit-pat, staccato overhead
as light from a candle
sculpts her silhouette
out of the darkness.
Smoke from the factory
hangs low against
a blackberry sky, shredded
by a watercolour moon
and I defy the dawn
to break this reverie,
as her breath falls soft
upon my cheek
like a blue butterfly...
jasmine winds
jostling the trees
transport my mind
to thoughts of where
she and I might go to –
music of the spheres
serenading our dreams...
A fanfare of fountains,
arpeggios of waterfalls –
wavelets, feathering
some Caribbean beach
where we two lie – lost
in the gegenschein,
watching a timpani
of stars, doing
the old, soft-shoe.

Hello Tina,
how do you come up with all these wonderful poems?
you really are a winner and you amaze me, how they
always come over fresh, no two poems are ever the
same.
I read this one, it sent shivers through me, I don't
know why, but it's incredibly moving to me.
Thankyou for the read.
Oh! and 'Happy Anniversary' to you and your husband!
Jenny.

Jenny - thanks;-) Both for reading and your lovely comment and for the good wishes for today. We have just come back from Waitrose and bought a nice bottle of wine to have with dinner tonight, when I shall pass on your greetings to him. It was really kind of you to remember.
Hope you have a nice evening too, and a good weekend;-)

Have to agree with all that Jenny has said - you have such a talent for sculpting the most beautiful imagery and sentiments, Tina, and this poem is yet another fine example of that :)
Hope you and your husband have a lovely weekend and many congratulations on your anniversary - he's a very lucky man, and I'm sure he knows it ;)
Another stunning read, thank you :)

Hi there, Pia...and 'unabashed' is most certainly right, so the 'thin air' paid off;-)
Thanks for your lovely words, and for the sentiment behind them.
