A winter’s afternoon,
yet a May Tree
by my window
bursts into bloom!
Opera Rose
and Purple Lake –
I paint its flowers;
Vandyke Brown
for the trunk
and Sap Green –
the leaves!
Depict my cat
with Lamp-Black,
glossy coat...
not a mundane mix
of roustabout,
everyday-tabby
as, pert-eared,
she navigates
its branches...
not sprawled
at my feet, asleep;
legs akimbo...
On a twig
an oriole will sit;
a striking blend
of Ochre
and Renaissance Gold
and I shall sing
as he serenades me...
A far cry
from that Drab-Grey,
dove outside
with brooding eyes
who gazes at a lady
a crazy shade
of missing you like mad
Winter-Blue.

Hi Tina,
could this possibly be one of your paintings?
I love the descriptive colours you use.
Simply beautiful.
Thanks for the lovely read.
Jenny.

I was in my seventh heaven writing this one, Pia. I just love the names of artists' colours. Very inspiring on such a rainy afternoon as this. Glad you enjoyed too;-)

How did you quess?;-) It most certainly is, Jenny.
I love painting my garden, summer or winter, and when it's a grey day, as today, I just use my imagination. As for my cat - she always sleeps with her four feet up in the air and would be very disgruntled if she knew I depicted her in such an unladylike pose;-)
Thanks for reading, and for your kind words.
