Flatfish, scat fish
find yourself a match fish
a Sprat fish or a Catfish
whatever kind you catch fish.
If your name is Jackfish
time to make a splash fish
so bait fish and Skate fish
take yourself a mate fish.
It does no good to pout fish
though you be a Trout fish.
Act like you're a Queenfish
find yourself a dream fish.
Maybe you’re a Shrimp fish
but no one dates a wimp fish
so make like you're a Jewelfish
then you'll sparkle as a rule fish.
Shack up with a Sunfish
have yourself some fun fish
or be cultured as a Pearlfish
set suitors in a whirl fish.
Be sharper than a Knifefish
woo yourself a wife fish.
Stop acting like an Angelfish
drive those she-fish crazy fish.
Stay frigid as a Stonefish
you’ll live your life alone fish
moreover be a bold fish
never good as Goldfish.
Stop making like a Dogfish
and hearts for you would throb fish.
Be brazen as a Swordfish
bag yourself a broad, fish
but better make it snappy fish
or settle for a Crappiefish.
Don’t dawdle like a Snailfish
grab them by the tail fish!
Stop being such a Goosefish
let it all hang loose fish
and if you be a Cuttlefish
give it loads of muscle fish.
Don’t whine that you’re a Pupfish,
it’s time that you grew up fish.
Don’t fret if you’re a Monkfish
just go ahead and hump fish.
Go on – bang your Drumfish
or for ever be a dumb fish.
Spread yourself around fish
give value pound-for-pound fish
get out there in the swim fish
not a Sardine in the tin fish.
A man-fish needs his Ladyfish
or there wouldn't be no baby fish.
Don’t end your days as paste fish
such a travesty and waste fish
be the one who gets away fish …
Not the catch of the day fish.
FIN!

Very Clever and so funny. Oh and by the way I hate fish, but I love this poem Val x

I'm not too keen on fish myself, Val and can't stand caviar. Some friends of ours brought some back from Iran a few years ago now and I hated it. 'That's why the lady is a tramp' ... obviously:-)
Thanks for reading and glad you enjoyed it.

Snap, Tina. I have dug up my ditty 'A Fishy Tale' which has sentiments similar to this very amusing poem. THe only thing that we don't have in common is that I am quite partial to fish.
Love, Luigi.

As I have said to you before, I think, Luigi - great minds obviously think alike:-)
Not keen on fish as I said, but I do like a nice kipper, once in a while, at least.
Thanks for stopping by and I shall read your little ditty post haste!
Much love,
Tina x

This is a hilarious poem Tina with brilliant rhythm :) This stanza was my favourite:
'Stay frigid as a Stonefish
you’ll live your life alone fish
moreover be a bold fish
never good as Goldfish.'

Ihave had SO much fun with this, I must admit. Trouble is, there are so many more verses I could add and it would end up a complete bore. (Even more than it is now:-))
That is why I thank you so much for 'sticking with it' an am really pleased you enjoyed it, ld.

Magic - thank you. As I have just said to ld, really, really enjoyed writing this. I hadn't realised there were so many fish ... and with so many wonderful names.
I always think that is the best thing about writing, in any way shape or form, because by so doing, we learn so much along the way.
