The Fortune-Teller

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

In my mind
I run my tongue
long and slow...
down your chin
your neck
each curve
of your spine –
savour your skin
aromatic as the salt
of Arabah.

Continue on...
Run my lips
across your breasts
those thighs
and your hand
I claim as my own
follow every line
every contour.

At the beginning
I confess; I lied.
I cannot tell fortunes
but, this very moment,
I seal our fate
with a kiss.

Your body speaks
to me like the twilight
tells the nightingale
to sing. I am that song –
imperfectly sung
but perfectly yours.

The rise and fall
of your back –
that perfect arch
it forms I lay beneath.

And so kill me
crush me
if you will...
for I would die
in exquisite agony.

'Your body speaks

This stanza is one of the best you have every written, in my humble opinion, and the whole poem truly captures the passion of true love. I genuinely think this is one of your best poems ever. If in the future I'll be half as good a writer as you are then I will consider myself happy ;-)

Thank you for posting this.

Hi Tina, it wasn't you on that gentleman's telephone service I accidentally called the other night? No? Oops, forget I mentioned it.

Seriously though this is one of the most sensuous poems I have ever read. Simply superb :--) xx

- love the images in these lines, Tina! And those last few lines; 'exquisite agony'. Beautiful, beautiful poem! Well done on the cherry ;)

Sorry I'm late commenting, Tina. I love the images you use, the whole poem flows so well and as Kheldar stated it is one of the most sensuous poems I have ever read also- which is probably one of the reasons it works so well. This is certainly a beautiful poem, skillfully written as always :-) . I particularity enjoyed this stanza;

At the beginning
I confess; I lied.
I cannot tell fortunes
but, this very moment,
I seal our fate
with a kiss.

and the last stanza ends perfectly. Well done on the cherry you richly deserve :-D
