Just Before You Go...

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

“If today was not an endless highway
If tonight was not a crooked trail
If tomorrow wasn’t such a long time
Then lonesome would mean nothing
To you at all...” Bob Dylan

Say that again
in your balmiest whisper...
that no sundown
has more colours
than the zillion shades
of you and me
together. Gather me,
soft, in your arms, like
a bunch of fragile
wind-flowers.

Your lips – sweeter
than heather honey...richer
than blackberry wine,
so fill my glass.
The taste of your skin –
salt as the Sea of the Arabah,
so let me drown; then,
rescue me.

Stay with me
just one more night,
and let us make
this night longer
than eternity,
and let us be
who we are, and not
who we thought
each other
wanted us to be.

Stunning and sensual, Tina! Another great poem for the senses. Beautifully put ;-) Oh, and the Dylan quote is just the cherry on top!

What a beautiful romantic poem Tina. It's sometimes
hard to put love into words, but like Magic said,
you've put so much sensual feeling into this and
captured a moment in time.

I loved the lines:-

Gather me,
soft, in your arms, like
a bunch of fragile
wind flowers.

and that third stanza blew me away:-

your lips - sweeter
than heather honey...richer
than blackberry,
so fill my glass,
The taste of your skin -
salt as the Sea of the Arabah,
so let me drown; then,
rescue me.

Wonderful read as always Tina.

Lovely romantic poem with images not easily forgotten, 'salt as the sea of the Arabah, so let me drown; then, rescue me'. Wonderful evocation.

You're right there, Julie, life is full of risks. There but for the grace of God go all of us - that motorway crash - horrendous.

Pleased you enjoyed this one, and thanks for telling me. Have a sunny week, hopefully, although it is very cloudy here today as well;-)
