Reclining Nude

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

Splashes of umber –
hints of Prussian Blue;
Chinese White –
murmurings of Madder Pink
carpet his floor.

An open window –
a torn, lace-curtain
shimmies with the breeze.

A model, draped over
a green baize settee;

his deft hand following
each line, every contour
of a curvaceous silhouette,
leaving nothing
to the imagination.

A butterfly
trapped in a jam-jar
of multi-coloured hues;
the one he uses to rinse
his myriad of brushes,
lets out a scream,
heard by only she...

sets it free to the wind...
as it flies directly
back into the room
and lands,
on his wet-in-wet
creation.

A Painted Lady
by definition; of name
and indeed of nature.

Belying freedom
is a thing with wings.
The picture, sells
for millions.

This is gorgeous, Tina! I love the use of colour and rich imagery. This stanza has to be my favourite:

'A Painted Lady
by definition; of name
and indeed of nature.'

Well done on the cherry ;)

Thanks so very much, Magic;-) As it happens paintings seem to be very much in the public eye at present.

Glad you enjoyed. Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

I think you painted a picture here which must sell for millions as well- millions of colours and butterflies and . . piaxx

Silver Spun Sand | May 22, 2010 - 11:41

Oh that I did, hh;-)

Now painting I simply adore...but I am hopeless at it. Can't draw for toffee, but give me a paintbrush or palette knife, and some acrylics and I'm away with the fairies!

I remember, years ago now in the seventies, there was a programme in the afternoons called 'Paint with Nancy'. She painted with a palette knife, and it sure was my kind of painting.

My thanks to you for reading and glad you enjoyed;-)

haven't tried much painting and I am sure I am terrible. I'd rather knit something complicated or write a poem !!;-)

You have such a way of painting with words, Tina, I wouldn't worry about ever picking up a brush again.

Silver Spun Sand | May 25, 2010 - 08:04

Dynamaso...thank you;-) And yes, I think you're right. I'll leave painting proper to the artists;-)

Good to hear from you.

Much appreciated.
