Samantha

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

As time goes by...
they said
the wardrobe
would stop smelling
of you...so, best
shut-tight the door...

that dent in the pillow
where your head
rested next to mine
would fill out –
given time...

your painting
of an off-kilter rainbow,
wouldn’t make me smile
every once in a while;
that red-admirals
wouldn’t bring to mind
what a butterfly brain
you had

and the willow tree
you planted,
three years ago
last July,
would cease
to remind me
how you stuck
a fork in your foot
that afternoon

and we rushed you
to A & E
and how very brave
you were and how
I dried your tears
in the car
coming home.

How ‘Your Song’
wouldn’t be ‘our song’
anymore. And I guess
that may be so...
if you sing it with him now,
Samantha.

“You see I’ve forgotten
if they’re green or they’re blue,
anyway...the thing is what I really mean –
yours are the sweetest eyes
I’ve ever seen...”

Hi Tina,

loved the third stanza:-

your painting
of an off-kilter rainbow,
wouldn't make me smile
every once in a while;
that red-admirals
wouldn't bring to mind
what a butterfly brain
you had

Thanks for the read.

Jenny.

My first boss, way back when I was sixteen, nicknamed me 'butterfly brain' and it has stuck, every since, can't imagine why;-) As for the rainbow, it really it is an odd shape. Mind you, I was so proud of it when I painted it, I had some table-mats done, at Boots, I think, with the same picture on. One of those things that seems a good idea at the time. As I have said before, my painting does leave a lot to be desired;-)

Thanks for reading, Jenny and glad you enjoyed.

Hi there, Julie. Yes, I want to see 'The Black Swan' too. As you know, I adore ballet, just like you do;-)

Thanks for commenting on this one, and you are right, you don't see many red-admiral butterflies around now...except last year I saw more than the year before. But the number of butterflies, generally, so I understand is diminishing, year on year, so I try to plant flowers in my garden that I know attract them.

By the way, I have feather-brain days...and today is one of them.

Have a good week;-)

New Silver-Spun-Sand
Tina.
Hi! I am not good at commenting
as some so good I can't tell if real
or not. Say the wrong thing. Yes your
right about Red Admiral so colourful
compared to white cabbage butterfly.
Hope you collect some by attracting
them planting flowers,I am sure your
garden is a picture plus the bird's
you have mentioned. And two of my
favourite songs mentioned here. One friend
in nursing home sung.
Have a good week-end too.
