to see but one leaf fall, releases
the melancholy in me as I follow
the call of the lapwing above the hill
sinking deeper into myself with every step
to this endless present...
 
where your voice ricochets off dints
and hollows where the muntjac lies abed –
its slender form impressed upon the rye grass
and ink-tipped nettles
 
the potting shed at the bottom of the yard
resounds, still, to the chatter of you, as you fling wide
its door to gaze at morning stars, and your guitar
strums a silent tune
 
as I pick up the book was your father’s...
the one he left you on British Flora and Fauna 
filled with pressed flowers, warm still from the sun, 
and the soil that spawned them,
and the absent touch
of your hands.

Hello Tina,

It's me again.  I sense your longing to be with your daughter shown by the words 'endless present' but then you would grieve just as much for the daughter still living in this 'endless present'.  It is a hard path you have to travel but people still need you and your compassion  in the here and now.  One day it will be different.  A wonderful collection of words beautifully displayed.
