Willow

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

A sanguine
summer sun
sinks ever low –
melts from amber
through to orange
sends her tresses
all aglow

wild, unkempt
like maidens’ ringlets
as they ripple,
glissando;
liquid gold
on my pillow –
set ablaze
by dawn’s new light

the triple forks
of her soft-barked
trunk – sensuous,
supple; welcoming
and warm;
beckoning –
like legs...
all aspread.

Sensuous. (and I had to look up glissando cf glissade/glide)

sensuous - can't think of a better word for this, and it's beautiful!

My thanks to you, insert;-) Said tree graces my garden and I count myself more than lucky. A happy new year to you and yours.

being a lover of trees I was drawn to this poem

such a wonderful tree.

This is wonderful, Tina! I love the whole fluidity of the poem - and there's too many beautiful images for me to pick out just one, but I think the second stanza is my favourite :)

Since I last logged on Tina you have amassed another 8 cherries! Hope you had a fab festive season. Love the sanguine summer sun - reminds me of Housman 'Ensanguining the skies, how quickly it dies, into the west away' I think?

Loved California Sands and Barnaby Jones but my favourite is Girl Painting which is just beautiful. Haven't read the prose yet - have lots of catching up to do. All the best Tina.

Thanks Tina, yes it feels really good to be back, had a monstrously bad christmas and new year but got a nice surprise when i checked my e-mail that a poem I submitted to a magazine has been accepted and will be published in Feb! I'm going to get writing again soon I hope - and I heard you on you tube reading your poems!:-)

I'm really sorry you had a rotten New Year and Christmas,fb...I can only hope that the rest of the year goes better for you; you certainly have some good news already, about your poem, I mean and I would be more than interested to know which magazine. Glad you enjoyed my 'poetry readings' on YouTube. Quite a new experience for me;-) Although I have to say, I do prefer just making audio recordings, camera-shy as I am;-)
