Nathen had been laying in the pit for three days, he drifted in and out of sleep, it was so uncomfortable in the pit, with the chill in the air
at night, he wondered just how long he could survive.
He had only live insects to eat that happened to be
in the pit, or that happened to wander in. Luckily
it had rained, so he was able to take some water,
as it fell into his mouth, but with the cold and the wet, he was starting to feel ill, his whole
body ached. Each time he drifted off to sleep, he
started hallucinating.
He imagined he saw a big giant eagle, flying overhead, it was calling, squawking, 'was this real?' he thought to himself, 'could it be the
eagle knew he was there?' he called to the eagle
for help, but as he did it disappeared. He did not
know what was real, or what was his imagination.
Without fire or shelter, he knew he would die, or
so he thought. 'Did people come this way, if they
did, would they be friendly?' he thought.
'Where were his family, were they safe?' so many
questions going through his mind.
To be continued ........

I'd starve if I had to eat live insects.
Poor Nathen, it's really not his day. Looking forward to part 12.

Theres something very cinematic about your writing with lots of striking visual images like the hallucinatory eagle.
This is a good cliff hanger. I like the way you try to pack lots of action into every chapter. You never write a dull chapter.
