THE CHOSEN ONES ( PART FIFTY NINE )

from the ABC set Stories

Addie awoke early the next morning, Lena rolled over, checking the time...seeing how early it was,
she decided to wake slowly.

Addie on the other hand, was one for jumping straight out of bed, as soon as he awoke. He took
a shower and made himself look presentable, today
was the big day.

When he was dressed, he made his way out of the
bedroom, across the corridor to the living quarters, he checked the monitor, his son was still
sleeping.

Making his way to the kitchen, he made himself a
herbal tea, then took it with him...down to the
control room.

Garrett had been at the monitor all night. "Any
changes?" said Addie, as he entered.

"Yes, I'm afraid there's been more fires and attacks on people," Garrett replied.

"Well the sooner we leave, the quicker we can sort
this mess out. How are the Ships looking?"

"I've had word, they've been checked over, they're
ready to go."

"Great!" said Addie.

*************

Lena had awoken and showered, she went to her son's
room and woke him. "Luke...time to get up," she
whispered.

Luke wiped his eyes, he was still half asleep.
"Come on sleepy head, today's the big day. What
would you like to eat?"

"Umm!" said Luke, thinking about it. "Can I have a
pancake...with some honey?" that was his favourite.

"Ofcourse," replied Lena, "but you need to get up
now."

Luke got out of bed and went to relieve himself. He
had his own bathroom, off of his bedroom. He got
dressed and left his room.

Luke had his own little pad for his palm, at his
own height, it helped him feel very independent.

Addie was sat on one of the recliners, checking his
logbook, while Lena was making omelettes.

"Hi son," said Addie...as Luke walked in the door.
"I need you to do me a favour, while I'm away."

"What's that Dad?"

"Can you make sure Carlos is fed twice a day? it's
really important. In the kitchen, there's a bag of
food, Mum will show you."

"Okay," Luke ran into the kitchen, shouting, "Mum!
where's Carlos'es food?"

Carlos was a beautiful tropical Parrot, that was Addies pride and joy.

Suddenly a computer voice came on the intercom:-
"Will all Officials, Pilots, technicians, navigation staff...report to Ships, within the hour!"

Lena told him to come and eat his omelette quick.
"Well this is it Lena," he said as he ate.

Gosh, Jenny...what with all this talk of pancakes, and the like you have made me very hungry. And then you mentioned Carlos, the parrot. I love parrots and have always wished that one day a parrot would fly into my garden and decide to set up home in a tree. Apparently, in quite a few places, the 'parrot population' has really grown. People buy them as pets, and then they escape, but who can blame them;-)

Really enjoyed this chapter, Jenny;-)

Thanks Tina,

I know what you mean about Parrots, I think they are
really beautiful birds. I've seen a lot of wildlife
programmes on them, which I adore watching, infact
any wildlife programmes do it for me.

Anyway really glad you enjoyed this chapter and
thankyou for the great comment.

Jenny.
