THE CHOSEN ONES ( PART TWENTY SIX )

from the ABC set Stories

Jonah was not having much luck at catching any animals in his pits, it had put him in a bad mood,
he was also angry that one of his prisoners had managed to escape. He had questioned the other men,
but each one said he knew nothing.

Jonah knew they were lying, but decided not to let
the men see his anger, 'anyway,' he thought, 'I have another idea.'

He decided that he would return to the place, where he had seen a figure coming out of the river. Jonah rubbed his hands together and grinned,
that evil grin he always made, when he had a plan
up his sleeve. 'Maybe there would be more men to
replace Joshua.' he thought.

He laughed to himself, then pointing at a group of men, he cried out, "hey you!"
the men looked up. "Yes you men, put down your shovels and come here to me now."
The men to frightened to disobey Jonah, looked at
each other, as if to say, 'what's he got in store
for us?' they put down their shovels and did as they were told.

"All you men will stay here, carry on your work, but I'm taking these men with me, to find more workers. Okay the rest of you, back to work."

The group of men who were to go with Jonah did not
speak, they wrapped some food up in some cloth and
made their way into the forest, following Jonah,
they walked and walked, but had no idea where they
were going.

By the time they reached their destination, it was
late afternoon, Jonah told the men to stay down, watch and wait to see if anyone was around, Jonah
had a keen sense of smell, he knew that people had
been here.

You've tied this tale up pretty nicely Jennifer, I think it's great the way Ivan and Joshua have met. Though this chapter doesn't move the story on much, you can tell that'll be significant for the future installments, which is one reason why I keep reading. First I asked who this stranger was, now I ask what 'people' are lurking in Jonah's presence :D

Thanks Pinda,

I really do hope you can stick with it, because there
is still loads more to come, if you can imagine three
years of writing. Hope you don't get bored.

I really do appreciate you reading this story and
your lovely comments.

Jenny.

Jenny - I don't think anyone who reads any of your chapters does so because they are 'sticking with it'. I for one, enjoy them immensely, and you are gaining so much from writing them too, which makes it even more worthwhile.

And I'm with Pia on wondering about Jonah, too;-)

Hi Tina,

thankyou for such a nice comment, I'm definitely
learning as I go along, because going by my rough
copies that I wrote three years ago, my spelling
was so bad, it has definitely improved.

Yes you're right I'm gaining a lot from writing
this story, it does make it all worth while.

I'm happy that you are still enjoying.

Thankyou.

Jenny.
