Thelma who was the Ice-Cream Blonde,
of Roland West she was fond.
She starred in many films you no,
she felt that she had far to go.
Those days of silent movies,
comedy was yours,
When your eyes would express,
you simply had to be the best.
Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton,
held you in esteem,
called you 'Hot Toddy',
said you were their dream.
How do you describe such beauty,
now she's left this world behind?
All that's left is a ghostly figure,
a nebulous image of the mind.
I was dazzled by her beauty,
her soft and gentle smile,
her eyes they had a sparkle,
that hypnotised you for a while.
She was captavating, pretty and petite,
she enchanted men, each one she would meet.
But as you watch her films from long ago,
you know that in the end, she hasn't let go.

Thankyou so much insert for your lovely comment, I am

Hope you are as fascinated by her as I am.

Hi fatboy74, I have to say that the stanza you
mentioned is my favourite aswell. I know it was a
long time ago, but I think I would have been crazy
about her, if I had lived in those days. I don't
mean in a sexual way, no I am not a lesbian, but in the way she moved and held herself, a real lady,
she was so beautiful and a good actress.
Thankyou so much for your lovely comment, it makes
all the difference to me, when I have given people
the opportunity to find out something new, this
internet is so brilliant.
Jenny. Take care.

Hi Jenny, Happy new year :) I hope your had a fun, and peacful xmas!!
I like this poem, so true of the good old greats when the actors were acting and not playing a part with just their body but with their skills, and when the director and co left scenes to ones imagination instead showing all and leaving nothing to want. so as usual well done straighforward and true xx

Hi Prettyrose,
I am truely sorry its taken me so long to answer
your wonderful comment, sometimes I forget about
some of the old pieces, I was really glad you enjoyed
this poem. I totally agree with what you said about
the actors, I got the box set of Laurel and Hardy
for Christmas, its hours and hours of wonderful
entertainment and Thelma has a piece of work of her
own on one of the DVDs, they take me a way to
another place, another time, just great.
Thankyou for reading and commenting.
Jenny.

I know what you mean about taking you away to
another world. I have been curling up with
Laurel and Hardy nearly every night, like you said
it's calming and easy viewing and it cheers me up.
you take care too.
