A Memory of Ziggy Hammersmith July 3rd 1973

from the ABC set Stories

Ziggy played guitar, Ziggy went so far he lost his
way, couldn't get back again.
Spiders from mars wanted him to stay. He said,
"Our love is strong, but is to young."
So he sang,
"Let's get back to Suffragette City."
but they said,
"hey man don't you be so unkind, just get back here."
He said,
"Don't lean on me man, she's so fine, she has a
white light, that's gonna drive me outta my mind.
A white heat that's gonna burn my very soul, that
white light feels so right, here she comes, here
she comes."
Time takes a cigarette, put's it in your mouth.
Your a rock n roll suicide,
the clock waits, you live too long,
Your a rock n roll suicide.
Don't let the sunlight cast a shadow.
"Oh no love your not alone, no matter how you
feel, your not alone, give me your hand cause
your wonderful.

VERY jealous that you saw that gig. I remember pleading and pleading to no avail. Music is brilliant for bringing back memories isn't it? I like how you've arranged this jeni

Yes, I'm jealous too! I eventually saw Bowie in 1978 at Stafford. As a budding guitarist I was almost as excited at the prospect of seeing Carlos Alomar who was part of the White Duke's band. Happy daze!

Never seen him live, but I would have loved to have done.

I too, like the arrangement of this. Much enjoyed.

Hi insertponcefre...
I was so grateful for your comment, glad you like the
way I arranged it. I also have a confession, when I
said it inspired me to write this, I meant that I was
watching it on tele last night, but on saying that I
do have happy memories of those times, when we were
Ziggy's fans.

Hi Kilb50,
Glad you enjoyed this, I didn't actually see him at
the Hammersmith, just on tele last night, but I did
see him in 1969 at the Colston Hall in Bristol, he
did a brilliant version of Space Oddity, I will never
forget. From one fan to another, thankyou again.
Jenny.

Hi Tina,
Thankyou so much for your comment, as you can see I
have probably given everyone the wrong impression,
that I was actually at the concert, it was definetly
not intentional. But I have watched it on the Arts
Channel so many times, never get fed up of watching.
I am also pleased you enjoyed the way I put the words
together, its such a compliment.
Thankyou again.
Jenny.
