The Muse

from the ABC set Poems

Urban Individuals,
embrace the Mystical
lyrics of their music,
darkness bonds them together,

a blessing Moon
reflects in the eyes of Pearl,
she lifts her head and smiles,
embracing...understanding
the ambience of the moment,

soft milky white skin...
melts the heart of the musician,
a Raven beauty...her tresses as
black as the night sky,
she is his muse,

tingling sensations ripple
through his body...as he
strokes her exposed...
slender arm – wanting to
indulge himself in her beauty,
but discontinues...apprehensive
of losing their enduring friendship,

they are free thinkers...
aligned with the stars,
unaffected by the fraught
world around them,
now so young...
some call them nonconformists,
they've shed their bitterness...
lost in their Art,

Pearl lays her head on the Musician's lap,
he leans forward as they sit together...
his thick – waist long ebony hair hangs,
concealing...enveloping her face,
her lips masked with the colour black,
while one arm hangs freely...her willowy
fingers display long...black nails,
a symbol of who they are,

drifting into Poetry...some sing to a
distant drumming, while Pearl finally
falls into a Slumber, in a warm caress.

This is sensual and intriguing, and most importantly, poetic.

Thanks so much hilary,

I'm so pleased you found it sensual and intriguing, it was inspired by my partners granddaughter.

Also I'm glad you found it poetic, which as you
kindly say, is the most important thing.

I agree with all that has been said, Jenny.

Very seductive indeed, and I love the vocabulary you have chosen. This, in particular:-

"they are free thinkers...
aligned with the stars,
unaffected by the fraught
world around them,
now so young...
some call them nonconformists,
they've shed their bitterness...
lost in their Art,"

Much savoured;-)

I can actually visualize this like a movie playing in my mind.

I love the line "her willowy fingers display long black nails a symbol of who they are."
That is just a really great line.

Great job!

Yes a truly sensuous read Jenny- so languid, slender words and soft tone- almost filled with love and affection for these young people. Beautiful- This must be Goth? It sounds wonderful- I must look it up and see some pictures of their art and listen to some music. Thanks for the introduction..

Hi Pia,

I'm so pleased you enjoyed this poem and found it
sensuous, with love and affection.

You are right this is about Goth, of which my
partners granddaughter is very much into, but more
than that, I have found them a very gentle people,
who are friendly and not a bit nasty, it's more
about having their own individual look and the art
is absolutely beautiful, which I'm sure you'll find
out, when you look it up.

Some of the music is loud, which I enjoy,
I would say their music mysterious, also
mystical, but then that's right up my street too.

Thankyou for reading this piece Pia, and I more than
appreciate you letting me know.
