A long time ago my Old Granny told me
as the rainbow coloured leaves fall...
'follow your heart...never falter and
always have faith to choose your destiny,'
fearful and afraid I watched you leave
the greenwood suffused with wood smoke,
as it continues to spiral upwards, through
the giant living expanse of crystal growth,
My Woodsman...my soul mate forever seeking
pastures new...gone down river no fear of
uncertainty - thrilled by perils of danger,
I'll be kissing the seasons I spent with you
as the sun rises, I'll climb the mountains...
the wild wind blowing through tangled hair,
gazing once more at the silent smoky mantle,
calling your name, the echo reflecting back
across a painted landscape...waiting for some
answer through the longed for summer rain...
I stand and wonder if you'll come back again.
Seasons come and go...no word from you to tell,
laying here in my back yard staring at the sky,
I wonder then at the life we could have shared
visions weaving their way into my faded memory,
but as I watch those wispy clouds float on by -
I realise it's too late...the illusion dead...
the fires of passion once raged, now gone out.

just beautiful that Jenny, some of your phrasing in recent poems has been pretty magical. :-)

I agree with fb, Jenny. Your poetry is reaching great heights now. One of my many favourites of yours.
My favourite stanza, this one:-
"I'll be kissing the seasons I spent with you
as the sun rises, I'll climb the mountains...
the wild wind blowing through tangled hair,"
More than well done;-)
