A QUICK POEM TO JIMI HENDRIX

from the ABC set Poems

It was forty years ago today,
that Jimi Hendrix passed away.
Now he's just a fading memory,
who made a brilliant record called,
"The Wind Cries Mary."

Although your gone,
your memory still lives on.
You were stuck in an angry crowd,
going deeper into the sound.

I think about you all the more,
look at your picture on my bedroom wall,
those eyes that follow me around the room,
the light that shines on your face, from the moon.

I start dreaming in a circle,
then you bring me back,
"Little Wing," is playing,
oh how I love that track.
Your music is written in the stars,
like a tattoo on the universe,
it always will surpass.

I like this, Jennifer;-)

I too admired Jimi Hendrix greatly, but had quite forgotten that today was the anniversary of his death.

Thanks for reminding me and for posting this.

Specifically liked this description: "you were stuck in an angry crowd, going deeper into the sound." Great way to describe Hendrix and other artists of the vietnam generation. Great poem.

Cheers.

Thanks JoseHdz,
Glad you agree, what a shame that these talanted people got
involved with the wrong kind. I suppose then again it was all part of the sex, drugs and rock and roll thing. Still is
today, I think.
