RED DEER'S CHILDRENS ADVENTURES ( PART THIRTEEN )

from the ABC set Stories

The dust storm had lasted all day, Two Feathers was
very uncomfortable in the confines of the crevice.
He was starting to wonder whether he'd done the right thing, 'surely Red Deer would never survive
out here alone?' he thought.

His mind suddenly wandered back to the camp, what
would Amadahy be thinking? he knew she would be
anxious about him, they were not only man and wife,
but soul mates too, he understood her sensitive side.

He recalled when they had first met, they were young children, who had grown up together in the
same camp. Whenever he got into a fight with another boy, she would always come to his defence,
when he was young he hated it...but as he grew into a man, the feelings he felt for Amadahy grew.
Now he was realising how much he missed her.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, Swift as Wind
started to get agitated and stood up. "What is it
boy?" Two Feathers had hold of the rope, the horse
started to pull away from his grasp. "Stop pulling
boy! calm down," the horse bolted and reared up,
Two Feathers could hardly see, the sand blinding
him. "Whoa! please stop pulling boy." He tried to
grab on tighter to the rope, but the horse was
stronger.

Suddenly Swift as Wind broke away from his clutches, the horse managed to scramble up out of the crevice and was suddenly gone.

Two Feathers sat there, he could not blame the horse for escaping, it was so confined down in the
crevice. Now he asked himself the question, 'what
am I going to do now?' there was no way he was
going to make it back to his village alive, as he
had no idea where he was...and on foot it would be
dangerous, he knew there were Cougars, but there
could be many other wild creatures out there roaming.

And what creatures, other than cougars will there be, I wonder?

I notice you have posted another chapter, and I have to read on to find out. You really do have the knack of keeping your readers in suspense, and no mistake;-)
