Reflective Thoughts!

from the ABC set Poems

Sunday morning
peals of bells
echoes drifting in and out,
fleeting glimpse
on substance of air,

as watching bees
wing their way
then lost from view,
sounds drift through
the passing realms of time,

male ants play
the mating game
their life ephemera,
existing only to
fertilize the female,

the release of rain
lightly falls across
my windowpane,
the feeling of cool air
touching the earth again,

a dormouse scurries
through tangle of weeds,
a swift glance...body quivers
then off with a scamper
some shelter to find,

so as I sit here
head bent in solitary
devotion to writing,
my cheeks dimple
as a smile crosses my face,

my feline friend
slinks proudly before me,
she nudges my pen
with her paw
like a child's desire for attention,

so my work here is done
with a gladdened heart,
under the spell of her
magnetic charm
we delight in play.
