Awake! awake...
forever awake,
my hands freeze
touching you...
you who are
departed -
deep beneath
but not
forgotten,
goose bumps tingle,
flesh icy cold -
the graveyard withered
Winter's final assault,
where Summer's
gossamer once
lay across
forgotten
headstones...
now the Robin
with blushing
breast - perches
on this grave,
flurries of Snow
carry fresh hope
on each flake
that falls...
as Sunday morning
bells ring out...
the Yew a symbol of
life after death -
seems to guard these
long forgotten Souls,
then from its resting
place - our friend the
Robin takes to the air,
to perch on a branch of
Yew...may be once a lost
Soul, but now our friend.

Jenny, this is brilliant. That opening stanza really grabbed my attention and the rest was so, so beautiful! I absolutely adore that fourth stanza and you painted the scene so well, and I love the Robin, always look out for him in Winter, and although heart-breaking there is so much positivity in this, I just love it I think this is definitely one of your best and it was a real pleasure to read, thank you so much! :)

Jenny this definitely deserved a big fat cherry, two if that were possible. I'm not a winter person yet you've got me longing for snow:
flurries of Snow
carry fresh hope
on each flake
that falls
Beautiful!
