Angel Cherries

I told the angels I didn't get a cherry for them and they said I wasn't to worry, God will punish anybody who doesn't give cherries for angels. They didn't really say that, so don't worry, but I could see they thought about it.

They are out shopping at the moment. They have gone to buy honey, which is all they eat, and some books to read. They like Winnie the Pooh stories. I thought they'd want a bible but they said they'd already read it. They like stories with honey in.

If you give them bread with honey on they just lick it off. They like to put honey on a saucer and lap it up like a cat. Their teeth are made of diamonds which is lucky for their dentist. Horseshoes are lucky too but angels don't make their teeth out of them. Or out of rabbits' feet.

I keep worrying that I should be asking them religious questions but I don't know any. They told me God is nice and likes pies. That's not at all the sort of thing the Pope would want to hear. He'd want God to talk about churches and vicars. He's going to be very disappointed.

I asked if the Assyrian descended like a wolf on the fold because it sounded like bible talk and I wanted them to think I'd read it. They said he probably did, and that's as far as we got with that. Oh, and I've just remembered a thing about Jericho and the walls falling down. I expect it was shoddy building work but I'll ask them about it later.

They told me religious people are often disappointed with God. He won't set fire to the people they don't like, even if the bible says he should. They don't like a God who goes against the bible, it isn't religious. Some of them don't believe he's God at all and demand to see the real one. Some of them say he's the Devil tempting them with false idols and wicked pastries. God just smiles and helps himself to another pie.

I can hear the angels coming back. I'll let you know what else they say.
