The Blind Snake Charmer

The Blind Snake Charmer

She didn’t remember the night before
In the teeming drunken bars
Yet in the morning she had this image
Of a road full of swept up stars

The shine had disappeared
Along with a hopeless wish
The sparkles have turned to grey
Like the scales on a long dead fish

Cold light of day flickers with nerves
And the pace is achingly slow
You can lose the fear of the unknown
If you never know where to go

Will the love that she seeks
Always be over the next hill
In a valley of echoes and whispers
Where nothing ever stands still

Till next week she murmured
To a mirror that couldn’t care less
Should I rethink my view of perfection
And stop giving out my address?

She was a blind snake charmer
Once bitten twice intrigued
The princes who passed on their stories
Had to be seen to be believed
