Lifeline (imagine Bob Dylan singing this)
This is a misnomer
The must be a mistake
how much more can one take
Before the world
Turns into stone
The pointless debates
The love and the hates
And the times when all of us
Feel alone
And the misunderstanding
Is the logic that makes no sense
And the marriage of convenience
will never work as a defence
and god is not with you
when you think you need him most
so for all that has to be true
has turned out to be a ghost
There goes the clock and sinking time
And hide and seek is out there for you
Don’t catch yourself looking for a lifeline
When your skin is coloured blue
It’s all to late when you realise
That words don’t owe you gold
And at night no one hears your cries
And now you’re far too old
So admit to yourself and lie
That this is how it’s not
You have no wings and you can’t fly
So you might as well rot
Ah but pessimists are negative
And some of us want to win
This is our prerogative
But where do we begin
There’s nothing out there easy
No one understands the sign
The servants are always pleasing
Just to be seen to be kind
There goes the clock and sinking time
And hide and seek is out there for you
Don’t catch yourself looking for a lifeline
When your skin is coloured blue
