Love with all its wrinkles

Love with all its wrinkles

They looked at each other and smiled again
There was no need to speak at all
Everything that could be said has been said
They knew each other’s call

In each other’s arms they lay
On a bed of many stories
Though it’s not as lively as it used to be
They tingle at the past glories

Last night they lit up candles
And laid naked in front of the fire
‘We’re far too old for this they said’
But god does love a trier

They laughed at their fumbling
It was like teenagers reborn
There was no Vesuvius moment
Just a love that left nothing torn

It was never sex where they were concerned
It was love with all its weight
She was a young ninety five years old
And he was ninety eight

"But god does love a trier" I did chuckle at this line - and the ending. Good stuff:)
