Not Guilty but Drowning - A Guantanamo inmate responds to George Bush's love of waterboarding.

Eyes open

I see my terror before me
I do not have the answers
They have their reasons
I am the photo fit

I see silver
Transparent
Powerful
Stinging
I see nothing

This is not how I wish to die

Mouth Open

I’m not speaking
I hear my own distortion
Interrupted by the screams
From another planet

I have so little to say
Upon which they wish to know
I’m a dolphin’s arch
Allowed to breathe

For a few more seconds

This is not how I wish to die

I imagine my god
Shrugging his shoulders
He does not believe me either
So do I make a choice?

I am confirming myself
Through brutality and fear
I shall tell them everything
They want to hear

Without ever knowing
If my fiction

Saved my life.
