Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk

I’m not seeking out the pleasure
Of the misery of the past
I can’t tell about the things
That you knew would not last

It’s all about perception
And what you couldn’t see
As the hill you climbed got higher
And the view was above the tree

So tell me this was unreal
Say it was all a joke
I can stomach all the humour
It’s the irony that makes me choke

I can understand your laughter
And connect the mistakes I made
I’ve just realised what you’re after
It’s an experimental escapade

So forgive me for my cynicism
And the questions I might raise
You see I swim in the curiosity
Of the waters of faint praise

I won’t thank you for the time
We spent walking the opposite way
I really didn’t want to find
That we had so little to say

When we got out of bed.
