Sasha Bor on Cohen – I haven't missed the points you make they're just a bit thin now.
Roll up roll up to my circus
Allow me to insult any race
Oh come on I’m only joking
Look at the smile on my face
I have a talent for demeaning people
I’m an actor deserving of the stage
I can tear down your church and steeple
I can make fun of your skin and age
I have an arsenal full of satire rifles
Firing cheap shots across the sky
Your culture I can easily stifle
With a gimmick and a wink of an eye
I have a problem with men who are gay
But I mask it by pretending man sex is fun
It gets the laughs that bolster my pay
I’m so good at appealing to the dumb
My characters are such wonderful creations
I have an ego that responds to sycophants
I’m so proud to offend so many nations
And I can do this in my underpants
I did my gay walk past some football fans
They are easy to amuse I’m sure
But they turned on me and clapped their hands
And said ‘you’re not funny anymore, you’re not funny anymore’.
I thought ‘Vassever just keep giving me money’.

I actually like Sasha Baron Cohen for how his characters magnify the vulgarity of their own cultural viewpoints/absurdities. I haven't seen his new film yet though - perhaps he's pushing things too far now? However, I like your piece too.
I think if you did a small amount of editing on this one it would flow slightly better. For example, your fourth line might be easier out loud if you removed the 'that's'.
Well done - a most enjoyable read.

Hey RD
once again thanks for the compliment. I write on the fly (this poem took me about 7 mins to create)so I rarely edit so soon after publishing. I usually let it lie for awhile before going back but I take your point.
I have seen Bruno and it's a tired cheesy unfunny piece of work clearly designed to make those that will laugh at Cohen if he sneezed but in terms of humour I thought it was juvenile and contrived. I guess if you make fun of enough races and creeds and throw in some nudity you'll get enough laughs to make you rich!

I think you covered it very well. Yes the writing could flow better but you know that. I've not seen any of his movies but there are enough excerpts around I almost feel like I have. He's obviously a very smart guy who understands his audience. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with next...if anything.
