Technology

I took an electronic book reader
On to the beach
I dropped it in the sand
Oddly enough as I was reading
Michael Palin’s Sahara

The reader no longer works
And there isn’t a bookshop for miles

I picked up my mobile phone
Thought maybe I could surf
Access to so much information
At the touch of a button
But I couldn’t get a signal

I took refuge in my ipod
And listened to my favourite tunes
For 14 minutes
Until my batteries ran dry

I wandered into a café
That had wifi
It only took me 40 minutes
To read my latest junk mail

I’m not on facebook
Nor Twitter
I find it easier to talk to people
Who are standing next to me

I drove my car home eventually
As I had relied on outdated sat nav
I had forgotten how to read a map
And spent hours running out of fuel

My hd ready telly
Has no picture
The snowstorms
Prevents contact
None of my gadgets
Seem to be working right

I will come back to earth
As a diluted luddite

An ironic look at what is happening to the modern world. We've become way too fixated on technology that we've forgotten everything else.

A bit funny because it's alarmingly true.

Nice work
