Do not

from the ABC set Relationships

do this.
push me beyond my limits, the ego
breaks and dissolves.

do not
open the window
through which
sheer insanity and lunacy reside,
I will not jump
into that place.

so you are stronger, I admit
much too strong for me
but why do you want to change the world
to place yourself at the center.

do you not remember those childhood games
in which you were it.
Everybody tagged you if you were it.
Here, everyone wants to kill you
if you are it because it is the "center."
Everyone wants to be in the center
but only a select few can be in the center.

Frost: "We all dance around the ring and suppose,
but the secret sits in the middle and knows."

Does the center know?
probably not, but who cares?

Our home is our family and good friends.
Everything is as it should be.

Much to digest here, Steve, and certainly a feast of food for thought.

I like the way you use the analogy of the game 'It'...it is very effective, if you'll pardon the pun,
and the last two stanzas bring the reader nicely full circle. Except, where does a circle begin and end?;-)

Much enjoyed this one, and now I'm off to read it again.
