When I was little more than an egg, my Mamya said to me, "there are two things you must know, my child, and that is one of them."
I was busy with a lizard and made no reply.
"There are crocodiles in the river," asserted Mamya, "and birds in the trees. The lion that ate your sister was none of these."
The lizard stared at me, goggle-eyed.
"If you crave to partake of my wisdom," continued Mamya, "you must drink of the juice of the teapot. It contains a powerful stimulant that will awaken your inner eye."
The lizard looked from me to the sun and back again. I wished for a soap bubble.
"At dusk," proclaimed Mamya, "you will know."
Dusk came and it was the lizard who knew.
