Seventeen presents under the Christmas tree, all unlabelled, no named giver, nor receiver. Intrigued, Derek opened the biggest one, removing the paper, only to find another layer underneath, another under that and yet more.
Soon he was surrounded by discarded paper and down to the last tiny parcel. He opened it, but it too contained nothing.
Derek tried to clear away the waste wrapping, but there was too much for him to lift. In fact it was all around him, smothering him, wrapping him. He struggled and fought, but not for long.
