Future history!

from the ABC set shamrock's ramblings

When the future is history,
and beyond repair,
let us not stand here keening
in helpless despair.
What should have been can not be
and this much is plain.
Let mistakes become lessons
lest they're made again.

Hindsight, so the skeptics,
would have us believe,
is the glistening boulder
that slipped through the sieve.
If we stumble on blindly,
with staggers and trips
then, it's us that make just, their
nonsensical quips.

Numerous the gifts that we
claim as possessions,
the dominant species; our
primary obsession.
Yet ashamed of past blunders,
we strive not too see,
the pit falls that, much later,
become mystery.

Thanks brother!

Kristofferson,

And you still can hear me singin' to the people who don't listen,
To the things that I am sayin', prayin' someone's gonna hear.

And I guess I'll die explaining how the things that they complain about,
Are things they could be changin', hopin' someone's gonna care.

And if I never have a nickle, I won't ever die ashamed.
'Cos I don't believe that no-one wants to know.

Thanks Nolan; Kristofferson - one of the greatest poets of his (or any other) generation!
