I am a Sixties Child

from the ABC set shamrock's ramblings

When I was young, I watched the young men
swagger off to war.
We weren't afraid to ask the suits
what they were fighting for.
And when they would not answer
and called us traitors wild;
we stuck our flowers in their guns -
I am a Sixties child.

Hippies, we were christened and we
smoked the pipe of peace.
We wore some flowers in our hair
and love had been released.
They pointed fingers in our face,
we gave them two and smiled;
I think we drove them crazy man,
I am a Sixties child.

We didn't change the world, although we
really thought we could.
They didn't seem to understand,
we thought that they should.
We sang the songs to right the wrongs
and we thought it was wild,
I'm older now but still somehow,
I'm still a Sixties child.

Love this Chris! Flower power indeed :P My mum was also a wild sixties child so I can relate this to her stories of rebellion ;)

I was born in the early sixties so can hardly consider myself a child of that age although I do identify completely with the time.

Great work, by the way.

Thanks Magic, your mum obviously passed on the gene ;)
Yes it was great and easy to be a rebel when mum and dad were paying the bills but shit...we were young lol.

Hey D. Good to hear from you mate. The 60's would be a lot of peoples favorite decade, I think; so many changes and on a global scale. It was a great time to be alive...at least I thought so - maybe the guys that went to Vietnam may have had a different perspective.

Great to have you back in the mix D. ;)

nostalgic song Chris, for that there decade - i think the future thanks you guys for the music, the rest is generally rebelled against, or simply taken for granted! Such is life :) Happy new year! xx

Thanks LD. I'm used to being taken for granted; I'm married lol. The music certainly paid for itself.
Happy New Year to you too and many more of them ;)XX
