She had a lovely Bush!

My mother in-law was ugly
but she had a lovely bush;
she clipped it every morning
and left it looking lush.

She soaped it down each evening
and sprayed it when it dried.
It lived for nine weeks and one day
from the day she died

I did my best to nurture it
and keep it at its best
I talked to, kissed and fondled it
just like a man possessed

Despite all my best efforts
it soon became deceased
and all its moisture left it,
it sat there cracked and creased

I dug a shallow furrow
On top of where she lay
and stuck it where it should be
and covered it with clay

Imagine my surprise then
When on visiting the plot
I found it there re-growing
in its little garden spot

I visit regularly
and give it little squirts.
Its texture has grown stronger
and over-handling hurts

So if your mother in-law should die
there’s something I propose;
keep her bush and with some care,
like me you’ll grow a rose.
