Sleep Now

from the ABC set The Words of War

Sleep now little brother,
your brave young heart now cools;
your life amongst us ended
by a politic of fools.

Sleep now little brother,
no more your smile will cheer
and, e'en for the briefest moment,
drive away our darkest fear.

Sleep now little brother
your duty, valiant done;
rejoin the ranks of innocence
turn your face to heaven's son.

Sleep now little brother,
and go you, from this hell.
When this folly is but history;
your story, they will tell.

Why do the good guys always win? "Because they get to write the history books".

Enjoyed your poem!
