Looking over the wall
It’s been years;
Freedom!

I spy the daffodils
Nodding approvingly;
Justice!

As did the judge,
Black draped wig;
Personifying!

Distant white crosses;
Signalling rest;
Welcome!

Trapdoor creaking
Under my heels;
Exit?

Hooded dignity,
Already shameless;
Faceless!

Braided collar,
Snugly noosed;
Robbing!

Preacher mumbling
Flowery pleas;
Begging!

Spring is sprung
Falling, snapping;
Darkness!
