Candy floss and spinning lights
Whirling, dipping, dizzy heights
Top of the world (enhancing) sights
Ghost trains, which distribute frights
Endless days, enflamed twilights
Short and open-window nights
Mosquito nets to stop the bites
Bugs that have no civil rights
Dogs too tired for play or fights
Garage full of sleds and kites
And gloves and boots and winter tights
My summer holidays, she writes

'Endless days, enflamed twilights
Short and open-window nights' - loved this couplet Chris ;) It has great rhythm too!

Nice one Chris. Makes me kind of blue heading into winter months. But, recovery time is minimal.

This is lovely, Chris. Strangely enough, we just got rid of our daughters' sled, only a few weeks ago. Yep - that sled hit many a tree!! Strange, the things we hang on to. We had a 'swingball' until a year or so back, until our garden shed was raided one night. Whoever took it was welcome to it, although, in its day, it was very well used.
Enjoyed your poem very much, Chris. As always;-)

this poem feels whimsical until the last line. "My summer holidays, she writes" gives the piece weight and substance...there's much more here than what is said. good write, 3leaf!
