There is no army marching;
storming your window pain
with ice cold cutlasses of gale.
It’s nothing but the rain.
There is no bull charging;
trying to butt your window in;
to toss you with its horns.
It’s nothing but the wind.
There’s no high wave rolling
to drown or drag you under;
deep and dark and angry.
It’s nothing but the thunder.
Pay no mind to the weather.
Its bark is far worse than its bite.
Your courage keeps it tethered
and it’s nothing but the night.

Hi there, congrats on the cherry:-)
Incidentally, do you mean 'windowpane'?
I particularly like this stanza,
"There is no bull charging;
trying to butt your window in;
to toss you with its horns.
It’s nothing but the wind."
Insert's right, it does have a lovely flow.

Thank you insert, Tina and Jenny. I'm really glad you liked it.
Tina, 'window pain' is a play on words. I was inspired by Paul Simon's song Graceland. In it he has the line, "Losing love is like a window in your heart". The elements outside may be literal or metaphorical and likewise the window might be a metaphor.

Wondered if that might be the case;-) Graceland - now you're talking!
Have a great new year;-)
