Cockerel Oracle

from the ABC set The Earthlove Collection

I am rooster Zoroaster!
I am king prophet of the sun!
My flaming crown proclaims I’m master.
Awake! Awake and hear my song.

Praise our sun, great golden cockerel;
its brood of worlds and clutch of moons.
Feel its spreading comb and wattles,
perched high upon the skies of June.

Praise our sun, great rainbow peacock,
whose fanning tail unveils the world.
The egg tooth of sunlight shall crack
from your heart and its wings unfurl.

Thankyou, Gristo. I often celebrate the feminine or maternal aspects of nature but I wanted to write a poem celebrating a very masculine part of nature, the crowing cockerel.

I like the egg tooth metaphor. Yes why not praise this fine bird- he is very proud
