The Little Robin Red Breast

from the ABC set Children's Poems

One snowy Christmas morning,
just as the day was dawning,
I went downstairs and what did I see?

A little robin red breast
was busy building her nest
in the branches of my Christmas tree.

“Shoo, little robin!”, I said,
“That’s no place to make your bed”.
Then the little robin flew away.

It flew and told Santa Clause
and Santa got very cross.
That’s why I got no gifts on Christmas day.

Thanks, Pia. Not sickly sweet, I hope. I just liked the idea of a bird making its nest in my Xmas tree.
