Round about the roundabout
and arcing over our car,
as we drove home from the clinic,
through the brainwashing tumbledrum,
the constant stutter and tutting of rain,
a rainbow rose above;
a rebellious banner,
rebooting my drained brain.
A rainbow, bringing rebirth
to my darkness flooded heart;
a rainbow that you read about,
only in beano comics;
a rainbow that could cheer up Rimbaud;
rarer than a Rembrandt,
a rainbow bringing reason,
with no pricks or side-effects.
*'My heart leaps up when I behold a rainbow in the sky' - Wordsworth

stutter and tutting great and the story telling also great.

I love this, the second stanza is stunning.

Thanks, Shoe. Most of my poems come purely from my imagination but this one was based upon a real rainbow that curved over the motorway and cars seemed to be driving under it so I thought I
ought to turn it into a poem.

I like the contrast between the colorful rainbow and your "darkness flooded heart".
