1st Verse:
There is a shelter I rely on;
a shoulder I can always cry on.
and I thank you very much Michelle;
you're my sanctuary from this hell.
When my heart feels like a refugee;
I know that she'll never refuse me.
When my life's far too unfair to bear
Michelle will always be there to care.
Chorus:
You are my shell, Michelle;
when things aren’t going well
I crawl into your arms
where my hearts safe from harm.
You are my shell, Michelle;
when things aren’t going well
I crawl into your arms
where my hearts safe from harm.
2nd Verse:
Whenever I am cold and frightened;
one thing is guaranteed to brighten
my world and that’s my girl Michelle a
tear drop resistant, bright umbrella.
When life is turning me inside out
and my hearts looking for a hide out;
my Michelle will shield me from the storm,
deep in her arms that are soft and warm.
Chorus:
You are my shell, Michelle;
when things aren’t going well
I crawl into your arms
where my hearts safe from harm.
You are my shell, Michelle;
when things aren’t going well
I crawl into your arms
where my hearts safe from harm.

Your lyrics are lovely. I found it sad it made me think of Simon and Garfunkel,
“I am a rock
I am an island
“And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries
Although one could just as well read it in the opposite sense where Michelle is a comfort and a friend. That would depend on how it is sung and whether she herself sings it. Both ways are beautiful.
Cheers! Very clever! Nolan

Thankyou, Nolan. I thought of it as an unambiguous
and happy song but I'm happy for you to interpret it
any way you wish.

Thankyou, pia. I was worried that people might compare it with Paul McCartney's Michelle and also that people might groan at the old and obvious pun of Michelle/My Shell. Glad you liked it.
