Starlight

from the ABC set The Earthlove Collection

She looked up, in the darkness,
at the stars and distant worlds;
bright Venus and Mars;
legends,heroines and gods
and wondered, "Are you real?
Will I ever shine like you?".

Then the credits rolled up
and the audience spilled out
and she looked up at the true heavens
and saw an audience with gleaming eyes
and her face in the Seven Sisters
and knew, “Yes! I shine like you”.

Yes nature can be a miracle but what we humans are is pretty amazing as well.

Yes, I agree Pia, but this poem is about that very point. The woman in the poem feels small and doesn't realize that she is a star because she only sees the film stars on the movie screen. Its only when she looks up to the real stars that she realizes how bright she truly shines.

It's a bit like the John Lennon song 'Instant Kharma', when he sings,

"And we all shine on,
like the moon and
the stars and the sun".
