Universal Dreamer

from the ABC set The Earthlove Collection

She had a dream and, in that dream,
a radiostethoscope
picked up a pulse amongst the stars;
a beating heart of hope
and, swaddled in the fleece
of bright galactic nebulae,
a peacock tail of protostars
was opening its eyes.

And every cell within her self became a constellation
and every star above became a cell
and, round the earth, a philosoph-
ical innoculation
was biting back the epidemic: Hell.

Now all saw the diabolical ebola;
the greed that grinds the stars between its molars
and the human blood and tears on which it’s fed
and their earth like a reeling, black and blue head.

Then we saw a lark formed from an exaltation
and a single mirror made from smithereens
and a heaven woven out of many nations
and our radiant Gaia blushing,lush and green.

And then she woke and then she wept
with joy at her baptism
and, in her mirror, saw
a universal organism

And, in her mirror, saw
a goddess with a starry grin
and, cradling her belly, blessed
the girl asleep within.

Thankyou, pia. I think that I am naturally attracted to both the romantic poets like Keats and the spiritual/visionary poets like Blake and I want
to combine those two sides of me in my poetry.

I'm glad you liked it.
