It's all done with mirrors:
As you watch his white gloved hands
for the furtive dip or palm,
you know it's a trick
and say, 'Aha! That's how it's done';
as you smugly smile
and give a smatter of applause.
Magic no longer gives you pause:
It does not beguile
and there is nothing new beneath the sun;
as subtle as a brick
beneath its dinner jacket charm,
now everybody understands
it's all done with mirrors.
