From my house, I can see the mast
of Alexandra Palace, yet
the reception here is dreadful.
When they dug the pavements and laid
cable, I was amongst the first
to subscribe. As technology
tends to be; it is super when
it works. Oh, but when it goes wrong!
The picture stutters or fragments
into blocks or totally blacks
out. No aerial to fiddle
with and resolve a hissing storm
of snow into something I can
decipher. With digital, it
is all or nothing. Binary
zeroes or ones; no uncertain
waves affected by the weather
or freak sunspot activity.
As for DAB radio:
it is expensive and silent.

Are you in Berlin?
Good piece, the frustration is received loud and clear.

Mmm- no- maybe somewhere with N in a London postcode. Or perhaps a trundle along the northern line to High Barnet – a line where it is also 'all or nothing'?
And Ally Pally is settled in there too; its mast a make-believe Paris backdrop for ABCtalers needing a photo….
